It's Father's Day soon, the 15th June to be exact and it's time to treat the old guy in your life. Here's a little gift guide to give you some inspiration. For a little bit of a fashion injection into his life why not try this floral shirt from Marks & Spencer, perfect for barbecues and that family holiday. Sticking with the BBQ theme, why not get him a useful gadget like these meat thermometers? If he's into grooming, particularly shaving, then L'Occitane have some lovely products, why not try the Cade Shaving Duo to give him a taste of the brand. Something useful for the office or his business could include this slick Ted Baker notebook, you could get him a posh pen too! Perhaps a voucher is more like it? Menswear Wednesday: Printed Trousers, are you brave enough?

Printed trousers are going to be a huge trend for menswear this spring/summer but it's definitely not a trend for the faint hearted. This trend was seen all over the catwalk from designers such as Gucci and Dries Van Noten. They're great as an alternative to jeans and look amazing in the summertime but you definitely have to have a level of confidence to pull these off. There's some shorts in there too just in case the full on trousers is too much! Here's a few great picks from the high street and some style inspiration from some very fashionable gents.

Menswear Wednesday: Get The Look - Mark Wright's Take on The Perfect Spring Look

Spring is in full flow and the party season is almost here again. Whether it’s an up and coming graduation party, a summer birthday or a barbecue on a sunny Sunday we’ve got you covered.

Rather than rushing and grabbing the closest pair of shorts why not think of ways to smarten up a bit when the sun is shining? By going for lighter colours and shades it’s entirely possible to wear longer length trousers and sleeves without getting too stuffy. Now is also the perfect time to ditch the socks, show a bit of ankle and have a play with different material footwear i.e. lose the leather!

Whilst out for a meal recently a friend of mine was sporting an outfit that ticked all of the above boxes and I was surprised when he told me his inspiration for the outfit was Mark Wright of TOWIE fame.

 Now I’m not a massive fan of the typical ‘Essex look’ but do have to hold my hands up to watching the show from time to time.  I do have to admit however that Mark does look good in the above photo and so I’ve decided to use this as the inspiration for my choices below. Menswear Wednesday: Printed Shirts

So, we've been seeing this Burberry heart printed shirt everywhere for both men and women. Most famously it's been worn by Harry Styles and Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys. It's graphic, bold and stylish all at the same time. Here's how to get the printed shirt look on the high street for less.

Menswear Wednesday: “Is it possible that you’re getting more handsome every time I see you?”

“Is it possible that you’re getting more handsome every time I see you?”

How many of us would long to hear those words? Well that’s the question David Beckham was asked back in 2011 when appearing on the Jimmy Kimmel show over in the US and I think it would be fair to say he definitely is.

David Beckham is a family favourite. Children look up to him, mums fancy him and dads, well, they fancy him too and that’s ok, it really is. David Beckham is grace personified, he’s typically British, he loves his mum, he maintains a strong relationship with his wife and children despite a constant barrage of media attention and yet he remains constantly classy with an added twist of contemporary roughness.

Below are a few of my favourite pictures of David Beckham from photo shoots to day-to-day looks. In my opinion, this guy can really do no wrong.

In this first image we see Becks sporting nothing more than a classic crew neck tee and jeans. There has been many a debate over where David Beckham gets his crew neck tees from including the likes of Sunspel. By getting the fit spot on, DB shows us you don’t need fancy logos and images to look cool.

During the colder months it’s a safe bet that a good coat is going to be needed and David opts for a classic over coat here in this picture. His slick back hair, which has become a modern classic once again fits in perfectly with this timeless outfit whilst the scarf adds a real pop of colour.

The final image is a really cool statement outfit. The combination of baker boy hat, chunky knit and rugged boots give a real masculine feel to the overall image and yet when we look at the items underneath, just a plain crew and a pair of jeans we are instantly taken back to the first photo we looked at and reminded how simple and elegant Beckham’s personal style really is.

Menswear Wednesday: 3 Takes On the Perfect Spring Jacket

 Spring is finally upon us. People are once again enjoying a drink or two outside, the trees are starting to fill out, the clocks have gone back and the thoughts of where we are off to on our summer holidays are becoming more and more important as each day passes.

With all of these exciting things in mind you’d maybe expect to be forgiven for making the odd wardrobe mishap at this time of year. Well, I’m sorry guys but no can do. In this spring to summer transition and the ever present ‘April showers’ raining down on us it’s more important than ever to ensure we are prepared for all the weather has to throw at us.

A key component of your outfits throughout spring should be a light jacket that can be thrown on and taken off as needed. I know the sun is shining but don’t be fooled, it’s still pretty cold outside and getting caught out in a five minute shower and spending an hour or two drying off is never cool but these three jackets definitely are.

1. For my first pick I went with this uber cool Rains Long Jacket in green. The colour and cut provide a nod towards the traditional Mod parka with the benefit of being lightweight and water resistant. It is an item that is fairly versatile and can be worn casually during the day but wouldn’t look a miss teamed with some smarter jeans and a nice pair of brogues in the evening.

2. This gorgeous Mac by New Look is a snip at £49.99 and is the perfect investment for the style savvy gent looking to add a traditional edge to his outfits. It is extremely wearable in the fresh stone colour and thrown on with a pair of light blue jeans and a fresh pair of white vans, you’ll definitely be looking cool and dry.

3. If the recent street style bug has caught you then I have a feeling I may have just found the perfect spring jacket. This Nike Heritage Windrunner is a classic amongst street wear items and the light blue tones paired with the vivid yellow Nike logo make this jacket pop. Teamed with a pair of Nike Air Max and a pin rolled denim jean and you’ve got the perfect 90s inspired street style going on.

 

So there we have it. Three very different takes on the perfect spring jacket. Hopefully this article has inspired you to have a think about your wardrobe throughout the transitions and not just the seasons.
