Little Knitted Photoshoot!

Looking at my collection of bobble hats and scarves, I decided It was about time I organised a little knitted photoshoot. Luckily, I have very talented friends to make the photoshoot fun yet professional.

My friend Leanne has the cutest little face, SJ is very skillful with a camera and Naomi works wonders with a reflector. The location of the shoot is in an area of Bristol that persuaded me to live in the city for so long. I love walking past the old large houses, hopping on the little shuttle train at the cute stations and sending letters at the built-in post boxes. Such a beautiful area!

However, waking up to dark, dull skies and lots of rain left me doubting whether we would be able to work in an outside location at all! Call us crazy or brave but we went ahead with the shoot anyway and had such a fun, productive day, although we could not feel are hands by the end of it! My one pair of mittens could not be worn by all four of us!

So, what do you think? There is lots more beautiful photographs in the editing process. If you like a certain bobble hat or scarf then its yours! If there is a particular knitting style in a preferred colour that you can imagine perched on the top of your head or wrapped around your neck, then I am happy to start knitting! Bobble hats are £12 and scarves range from £18-£20. Just comment below and I will get back to you. I hope you love the shoot as much as I do, I didn't stop smiling all day!

Thank you very much girlies!! I can't wait for the next one!

 Get cosy for winter,

MEN TREND
Colour trend A/W 12’ - Purple

When looking around at the styles and fashion available at this time of year.  One of the first things your eyes are drawn to is the colour. Autumn in particular holds host to a whole range of colours for you to try. Now as we are all aware not all colours suit everybody, in fact we all have key colours that look best on us and against our skin. However, one colour that looks great on most and has taken over both high street and high end designs this season is purple. Whilst consistently making an appearance most autumns, this year deep purples are being seen everywhere and on everyone. Men as well as women are experimenting with different ways of wearing the colour, and here are some of my favourite ways for you to try...

Look One

If you are going out on the town or even just popping out for one, this look is ideal. Black works very well with this colour and is also a big trend this season. Now, although loafers may not be for everyone, they have seen a massive surge in popularity this year and as well as being comfortable (when worn sockless) they are also very affordable.

With prints remaining huge this season it is always nice to experiment where you can but don’t make it too busy if you are already wearing a strong colour somewhere else. Keep it nice and simple.

Look Two

This is a very casual look that pair’s colours that work well together. The purple jacket is a slightly daring piece but when worn with the right things will look really great and shows a real casual sense of style.

Look Three

Now purple may not be the first colour that comes to mind when you consider buying a suit but at this time of year it is definitely one to be considered. Men are braver now more than ever before when it comes to fashion and in particular colour so why not come on board! Worn with tan, orange, navy, grey, black or white this colour really is versatile and will be sure to lift your mood on a glum winter’s day.

Until next time...show some style:)

Vintage Amy at Bristol Fashion Week AW12

Here are a few of my favourite things about Bristol Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2012.

John Lewis Advert: As I sat down with my glass of bucks fizz and chocolate chip muffin, I got the chance to admire the cute girl’s outfits whilst listening to Paloma Faiths beautiful song. Definitely an enjoyable moment whilst waiting for the fashion show to start. Make sure you check out John Lewis’s new advert, a favourite in our household.
Waiting for all the bloggers to arrive!
Autumn Florals: I adore floral prints (as you already know) so I was excited to discover that florals are to continue in an autumn colour palette.  I certainly will be hunting down a cute dress or blouse in this seasons floral pattern.

Return of the Peplum Trend: The popular peplum trend is making an appearance this season. The feminine flattering shape that highlights the waist and skims over the hips is perfect for your party dress or blouse and skirt combo.

Ladylike Chic: Knee length pencil skirts with cropped tailored blazers create a ladylike, feminine silhouette. The classic suits come in textured fabrics with silver thread lines to inject a contemporary feel. Teamed with a delicate lace blouse this seasons ladylike chic trend is complete. Luckily, I already have my Chanel-esque blazer hung neatly in my wardrobe.

Hair Advice: The part of the show where Andrew Barton shares his expert hair advice. I was pleased to discover that either; a short blunt fringe, a beautiful bun or hair full of body bounce are perfect hair styles to compliment this seasons look. Seeing as I already love fringes and high buns then I will be investing in some heated rollers.

Heritage Trend: I am a huge Downton Abbey fan so the interpretation of the heritage trend was one of my favourite scenes. The autumn leaves, wool dresses and fur collars in shades of brown and maroon created a warm, cosy feel. Knitwear in autumnal colours is one of the reasons why I enjoy this season.

Style Advice: Working at the Personal Style Pod for The Image Consulting Company was certainly a highlight for me. I got the chance to share my style advice on body shape, trends and colour, which was rewarding and great fun!

Goody Bag: I always like to collect my Bristol Fashion Week goody bag! After a good rummage through all of the treats inside I always find a purpose for the tote bag. I usually use the canvas bag to carry my knitting, lug home my shopping or for storage. I love the purple floral writing this time! Bang on trend!!!

So, no matter what your style is I am sure Bristol Fashion Week will be able to offer great advice to enhance your style. Whether this is new fashion trends, hair advice or just a family day out you are bound to have fun! I certainly did!
